PanOncology Trials cuenta con un equipo altamente preparado en tratamiento de investigación de cáncer. Está liderado por doctores especializados en oncología, hematología, urología e investigación de cáncer del sistema gastrointestinal, cáncer de sangre y cáncer de próstata en Puerto Rico.
Dr. Marcia Cruz-Correa completed her B.S. in Biology (magna cum laude) and her medical degree (honors) at the University of Puerto Rico. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the UPR and a fellowship in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the Johns Hopkins University, Maryland. She completed a doctorate degree in Clinical Investigation and Genetic Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
She is Professor of Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico, Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD) and Adjunct Professor of Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, TX). Dr. Cruz-Correa is a physician-scientist with strong focus in chemoprevention, hereditary cancers, and cancer disparities. She has over 15 years conducting clinical trials in cancer prevention and treatment focused on gastrointestinal cancers.
She is actively involved as a Chair or committee member in several national professional societies including the American Gastroenterological Association (board member), past Chair of the American Association of Cancer Research Minorities Council, member of the AACR Women in Cancer Research and inmmediate past member of the NCI National Cancer Advisory Board. Dr. Cruz-Correa, has over 100 peer review manuscripts and publications in cancer research and has received several awards including honorary societies such as Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
La doctora Marcia Cruz Correa, Chief Medical Officer de PanOncology Trials, es graduada de medicina de la Universidad de Puerto Rico y tiene un doctorado en investigación clínica y epidemiología genética de la Universidad de John Hopkins. La doctora tiene sobre 15 años logrando estudios de prevención de cáncer gastrointestinales. También fue nombrada por el presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, como la primera mujer hispana en el Comité Asesor Presidencial para asuntos de Cáncer. En adición, es la única mujer hispana miembro de la Junta de la Asociación Americana de Investigación de Cáncer, organización mundial líder en investigación de cáncer.
La doctora Noridza Rivera Rodríguez, Co-Investigadora de PanOncology Trials, es graduada de medicina de la Universidad de Puerto Rico con una sub-especialidad en medicina oncológica y hematológica. La doctora ha completado varios programas de investigación clínica de la Universidad de Pittsburgh y de la UPR. Además trabajó con el Auxilio Cancer Center del Hospital Auxilio Mutuo, donde estuvo envuelta directamente en el cuido de pacientes de cáncer y deficiencias hematológicas. La Dra. Rivera opera una práctica oncológica en el Hospital Oncológico Isaac González Martínez.
Dr. Noridza Rivera-Rodriguez has a bachelor’s degree in general sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. In 2006 she completed her medical training from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Medicine. She began her Internal Medicine training at the University Hospital of San Juan, PR where she also completed her Hematology and Medical Oncology subspecialty in 2012.
She also completed the Leading Emerging and Diverse Scientists to Success (LEADS) Program, from the Institute for Clinical Research Education, by the University of Pittsburgh and the UPR Medical Sciences Campus. Dr. Rivera worked at the Auxilio Cancer Center in Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in San Juan, a multidisciplinary practice, where she was involved in the care of patients with different solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. Dr. Rivera has an oncology practice at the Isaac Gonzalez Martinez Oncologic Hospital, and is investigator at PanOncology Trials.
She is currently an Assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Medicine and the Interim Director of the Hematology and Medical Oncology Section at the UPR School of Medicine. Dr. Rivera has been actively collaborating with her colleagues through the Puerto Rican Association of Hematology and Medical Oncology, first as the secretary and since 2018, as the President of the Scientific Committee. Dr. Rivera has participated in multiple national meetings and has been an invited speaker in different forums.
El doctor Ricardo Sánchez Ortiz, Co-Investigador de PanOncology Trials, cuenta con un B.A. de la Universidad de Harvard y es graduado de medicina de la Universidad de Puerto Rico. El doctor completó un entrenamiento en urología del colegio de medicina de la Universidad de Pensilvania y logró un “fellowship” en urología oncológica del MD Anderson Cancer Center. El doctor fundó la primera clínica dedicada a oncología urológica en el Caribe y está certificado como “fellow" del Colegio Americano de Cirujanos y de la Sociedad de Cirujanos Oncológicos.
Ricardo Sánchez-Ortiz, MD graduated with magna cum laude honors from Harvard College and summa cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.
He completed his surgical and urology training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where he served as Chief resident and then pursued a fellowship in urologic oncology at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Sánchez-Ortiz founded the first urology clinic in the Caribbean dedicated exclusively to urologic oncology and established the first and largest robotic surgery program in the Caribbean. Dr. Sanchez-Ortiz is board certified in urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
He is currently Chief of Robotic Surgery and Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, as well as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Urologic Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Francisco G. Bruno holds an B.S. in accounting from Boston College (cum laude) and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. He is an experienced senior financial executive, entrepreneur and CPA with over 27 years of experience in complex and regulated business environments.
Mr. Bruno is responsible for the start-up design, contracts and business development for PanOncology Trials. He was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for the largest Phase I Unit in Latin America and one of the most active research centers performing Hepatitis C clinical trials worldwide.
He was also responsible for the global accounting, treasury and finance department of QMC Telecom International, a private equity backed telecom infrastructure start-up with presence in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Puerto Rico during its high growth phase achieved with $250 million equity capital raised. Mr. Bruno has also worked in investment banking in Salomon Smith Barney marketing, structuring and executing over $1.4 billion in lead managed financings for clients in Puerto Rico. He founded a real estate development company to develop high-rise buildings in Puerto Rico and founded a consulting company that provides strategic planning, corporate restructuring and financial advisory in the healthcare, retail and government sectors.
